Chongqing North Hot Spring was approved by the State Council as one of the first 44 national scenic spots in 1982. In 2002, it was rated as a national 4A scenic spot. Chongqing North Hot Spring is located in Beibei District, bordering Jialing River in the north and Jinyun Mountain in the south. Its predecessor is Wenquan Temple, which was initially built in 423, the first year of Liu Song Jingping in the Southern Dynasty, and rebuilt in 1432, the seventh year of Xuande in the Ming Dynasty. In 1927, Lu Zuofu founded the Jialingjiang Hot Spring Park here, built more hot spring swimming pools, bathrooms, restaurants and other tourism facilities, and later renamed it Chongqing North Hot Spring Park.

In ancient times, Wenquan Temple was the lower courtyard of Jinyun Temple. The temple is magnificent, with many stone carvings and flourishing incense. Later, after Emperor Wu of the Northern Zhou Dynasty and Emperor Wuzong of the Tang Dynasty destroyed Buddhism twice, the destruction was serious. During the reign of Emperor Zhenzong of the Tang Dynasty, Master Jingman of Yougu rebuilt the temple, and carved cliff Buddha statues between the back mountains and rocks. In the fourth year of Jingde in the Northern Song Dynasty (1007), Wenquan Temple was granted as Chongsheng Temple by the imperial court. The Ming and Qing Dynasties can be regarded as the golden age of Wenquan Temple. The temple has to be rebuilt. At the same time, the Jieguan Pavilion has been built in front of the temple. At the back of the temple, a pool has been built facing the stream. It is four feet wide and has a pavilion on the upper wing. Tourists can bathe in the pool when it is sunny or rainy; In addition, a fish pond and a half moon pond have been built for tourists to enjoy by taking advantage of the hot spring water source and terrain.

The existing hot spring temple is an ancient temple rebuilt in the Ming and Qing dynasties, with red eaves and blue tiles, which is magnificent. At the foot of the mountain at the left back side of Wenquan Temple, there are cliff carvings of the Song Dynasty. There are 18 cliff arhats carved in the reign of Xuanhe in the Song Dynasty. There are nine statues, and there are also animal stone carvings of monkeys, tigers, dragons, etc. In front of the statue of Arhat lies a stone, which is several feet wide and more than ten feet long, carved with stripes. A shallow ladder is drilled from the bottom to the top, and the five characters "Natural Ruyi Ladder" are carved beside the ladder. Tourists will naturally daydream here.

The stone carving garden on the right side of the temple still has the remains of the Arhat statue carved on the rocks of the Song Dynasty, the Ming Zhengde, Jiajing, Wanlishi steles and Panlong Pagoda, which are precious historical relics. It is amazing that the hot spring water is introduced into the waterside pavilion and lotus pool, and the fish are not afraid of its heat. Liu Daokai, a native of the Qing Dynasty, also wrote the phrase "several wild cranes with long pine nests, and a pool of warm water leaping over the divine fish". After years of cultivation, the garden is green all the year round, small and exquisite, lined with brushwood and cypress, willows hanging over the lotus pool, waterfalls and flowing springs, and towers and pavilions dotted with it, which is particularly poetic and picturesque. Celebrities and refined scholars are attracted to this place and leave many inscriptions on it. Location: Located at the foot of Jinyun Mountain, Beibei District, Chongqing, 50km away from the urban area, covering an area of 10 hectares, the General North Hot Spring Park is located in Beibei District, bordering Jialing River in the north and Jinyun Mountain in the south.

It is the earliest civilian park in China. Huang Yanpei wrote here: "Count the sails outside the sail building, and see two or three Guanyin people across the gorge. You may not see famous and rich people in the canyon, but I am also misty and quiet."
