There are more than 300 revolutionaries detained here, such as Jiang Zhujun, Xu Jianye, He Xuesong, after the failure of the three armed uprisings in East Sichuan, including the "June 1st" arrest case, the "Little People's Revolution" case, the "March News" case, and the revolutionaries arrested after the failure of the three armed uprisings in the upper and lower reaches of East Sichuan. At most, there were more than 300 people. There were also "Little Turnip Head" and their families living here. On November 27, 1949, Kuomintang agents planned a massacre that shocked China and foreign countries on the eve of their flight, and only 15 people escaped. Shen Zui, the head of the general affairs department of military statistics, drove a jeep to look around in person, and finally selected the Refuse Pit as the new address for the prisoners in the former detention house of Bai Mansion.
In July 1946, Xifeng Prison and Wanglongmen Detention Center were abolished. Xifeng, Wanglongmen and Zhazidong Prison and Detention Center were merged into Zhazidong Prison and Detention Center, and all the detainees in the former Xifeng and Wanglongmen Prison and Detention Center were merged into Zhazidong Prison and Detention Center.
After the cancellation of SACO, the prisoners moved back in April 1947, and the Refuse Pit Prison was merged into Bai Mansion Detention Center, but temporarily abandoned.
In December 1947, the prisoners were re detained in the Refuse Pit, known as the "Chongqing Xingyuan Second Detention Center". The detainees are mainly educational and press personnel arrested in the "June 1st Arrest" in 1947, people arrested in the "Little Revolutionary Movement" underground armed case, people captured and arrested in the three armed uprisings in eastern Sichuan, people arrested in the "March Forward News" incident, members of the East Sichuan Branch and the Sichuan Kang Branch of the National Revolutionary Movement. At most, more than 300 people have been detained. Jiang Zhuyun, Xu Jianye, Yu Zusheng and others were once imprisoned here.
At the end of November 1949, on the eve of Chongqing's liberation, more than 200 revolutionary heroes imprisoned here were killed.
Prison structure
Exterior: The camp is flanked by mountains on three sides and faces a deep ditch in front. There are six sentry boxes, a machine gun position and a company of Kuomintang troops outside the high wall.
Inner courtyard: The Refuse Pit Detention Center is divided into two inner and outer courtyards. There is a wind dam in the inner courtyard, with 16 male prisons and 2 female prisons. On the wall of the inner courtyard, there are slogans such as "Youth will never return, think about it carefully", "Identify this time and this place, don't be obsessed", "There is no limit to confusion, and you can turn around", "Be quiet and patient, don't complain and don't worry".
External courtyard: The external courtyard is an office and torture room. There are slogans on the wall of the outer courtyard, such as "What the officer cannot see, think of, hear or do, we must see, think of, hear and do for the officer". There are cell, interrogation room, warden's room, interrogation platform, iron chain, bamboo stick, chili water, tiger stool and other torture in the Refuse Pit. The "tiger stool" is a long stool, which is tied to the stool with hands and feet, and the bricks are dropped on the ankle. When it falls on the third floor, the leg is broken. In Bai Mansion and Refuse Pit, nearly three hundred heroes were killed here.
