Historical development of Qiezixi Middle School in Chongqing:

The historical development of Qiezixi Middle School in Chongqing can be roughly divided into three stages: the junior middle school stage in the founding period, the complete middle school stage in the gradual development, and the stage of striving to become a key middle school in Chongqing with a certain scale and popularity.  

In 1957, Qiezixi Junior Middle School was established by Jiansheng Primary School in Jiulongpo District, Chongqing with the approval of Sichuan Provincial Department of Education. As the school site of the junior high school class wearing hats at that time was in Guanyindian (now Jiansheng Primary School), the traffic was inconvenient, and the water and electricity could not be solved. After several surveys and site selection by Chongqing Municipal Bureau of Education and Chongqing Urban Construction Bureau, the school was finally located in Chenjiaba, Qiezixi. Chenjiaba has convenient water and electricity, convenient transportation, moderate school site and reasonable layout. The students come from Erzui in the south, Funiuxi in the west and Tuojiaao and Masangxi in the north. Qiezixi and Chenjiaba are regional centers with convenient distribution of students. Since 1957, Chongqing Municipal Education Bureau has named the new schools after their locations. During the ten years of turmoil, the school was once renamed "Yan'an Middle School". In 1969, it was uniformly numbered by Chongqing Municipal Education Bureau, and our school was changed into No. 82 Middle School. In 1986, Chongqing No. 82 Middle School was changed into "Sichuan Chongqing Qiezixi Middle School" with the approval of Sichuan Provincial Department of Education Middle School [1986] No. 3 Document. After Chongqing became directly under the central government in 1997, it was officially named "Chongqing Jizixi Middle School".  

In Jiansheng Junior High School, only two junior high school classes were enrolled, with about 110 students. After the completion of the school construction in 1957, two classes of Grade 60 junior high school were enrolled. From 1958 to 1965, there were four classes with about 200 students. From 1956 to 1965, the school was basically a junior high school with 12 classes. 1966－  

In 1968, enrollment was stopped because of the Cultural Revolution. Classes resumed in the autumn of 1969. Due to historical delays and regional population growth, the number of new students enrolled at that time jumped to 35 classes, more than 1800 people. The school buildings were insufficient, and even half day system was adopted. In that year, four classes of freshmen from Grade 74 of senior high school were added, and every year after that, junior high school and senior high school students were recruited at the same time. Since then, Jizixi Middle School has become a veritable senior high school. The number of classes in junior and senior high schools is about 10-15 classes every year, and then gradually increases to 20-30 classes. When the school was built in 1957, there were only two classrooms (bungalows), with an area of 480 square meters, a kitchen of 120 square meters, office space of 410 square meters, and toilets of 22 square meters, covering an area of less than 1100 square meters.  

At the beginning of its establishment, the school only offered cultural courses. During the three years of national natural disasters, the school once carried out part-time work and study, opened kilns to burn bricks, and raised pigs and rabbits to increase income and improve school running conditions.  

With the regional population growth and the development of education, Chongqing No. 82 Middle School, as a junior high school, cannot meet the requirements of regional education. In July 1985, Jiulongpo Jinggangshan Private Middle School was incorporated into our school. In 1986, it was approved by the Education Department of Sichuan Province (ZZ [1986] No. 3) to transform the junior middle school into a complete middle school. With the approval of the People's Government of Dadukou District, Chongqing in July 2001, the Children's Middle School of Chongqing Wood Complex and the Children's Middle School of Chongqing Meat Factory were merged into Chongqing Jizixi Middle School at the same time. In August 2005, the junior middle school department of the original Jiansheng School was merged into Chongqing Jizixi Middle School, expanding the scale of the school continuously. With the continuous expansion of the school, it has a building area of 10000 square meters, and the school covers an area of 26000 square meters (41.46 mu).  

In 1977, the school set up a school run factory to produce dilute sulfuric acid and cystine. The cystine produced at that time filled the gap in southwest China. Due to the good quality of the product, it was not only famous in China, but also exported overseas. Later, it has carried out plastic processing, metal processing, food processing and wood processing, which not only provided economic support for improving office conditions, but also provided a place for students to participate in social labor practices. After 1991, with the improvement of the national economy, the school added official vehicles, built track and field soccer balls, basketball courts, swimming pools, fitness rooms, reconstructed teaching rooms, living rooms and office rooms, and expanded the area of lawn and green land. In 1994, Sichuan Province and Chongqing Municipality decided to enroll ethnic minority students, set up ethnic minority classes and technical secondary school classes, and built student dormitories, Chinese and Western painting rooms, computer rooms, body art training rooms, books, reading, laboratories, and standard teachers' and students' canteens, bathrooms, etc.  

After Chongqing became the municipality directly under the Central Government, the development of the school has accelerated, the old school has changed its appearance, all teaching rooms have been rebuilt, two new complex buildings with an area of nearly 5000 square meters have been built, 126 computers have been added, experimental instruments have been updated, and environmental facilities and office facilities have been improved. Since 1995, the government and the school have invested more than 7 million yuan to improve the school running conditions, and the school's teaching means and facilities have become more advanced.
