Chongqing Foreign Language School, also known as the Affiliated Foreign Language School of Sichuan International Studies University, or "Chongqing Foreign Language School" for short, was selected as the first batch of key middle schools in Sichuan Province in 1981; In 1997, it was listed as one of the first batch of key secondary schools directly under Chongqing Municipal Education Commission; In 2001, it was designated by the Ministry of Education as one of the 13 schools in China where 20% of senior three students have the qualification to be recommended.

The school was named "Chongqing Foreign Language School" when it was founded in 1963. In 1965, the school added the name of "Sichuan International Studies University Affiliated Foreign Language School". In July 2015, the school was transferred to Sichuan International Studies University for management.

According to the information on the school's official website in January 2017, Chongqing Foreign Language School covers an area of 78 mu, with a total of more than 9600 students. It has general high school classes and international classes. The school has 725 teaching and administrative staff, including 2 experts enjoying the special contribution allowance of the State Council and 10 special teachers. Since the autumn semester of 2015, the Affiliated Foreign Language School of Sichuan International Studies University (Chongqing Foreign Language School) has stopped junior high school enrollment. In the same year, the Affiliated Foreign Language School of Sichuan International Studies University (Chongqing Foreign Language School) was transferred to Sichuan International Studies University for management.
