Chongqing No. 1 Middle School is the earliest modern public middle school in Chongqing. It is located at the foot of the verdant and beautiful Gele Mountain and the bank of the beautiful Jialing River. History of Chongqing No. 1 Middle School
In 1931, Chongqing Municipal Middle School was opened. It originated from Yuzhou Municipal Public Middle School, located in Shihui City, Chongqing, and later moved to Liangfu Branch Road. It was initially named "Chongqing Municipal Junior High School".
In 1940, the school was located in Liujiayuan, Shapingba, and changed its name to "Chongqing Municipal Middle School", becoming the only municipal public secondary school in Chongqing that had both junior and senior high schools.
In 1946, the government established Chongqing Municipal Second Middle School in Xiaolongkan, Sandong and other places in order to take in the homeless war zone students from various schools in Chongqing. The original "Chongqing Municipal Middle School" was renamed as "Chongqing No. 1 Middle School" again.
In 1950, Chongqing No.1 Middle School and Chongqing No.2 Middle School were merged and renamed as Chongqing No.1 Middle School in Sichuan Province.
In 1953, it was named as Chongqing Key Middle School by Chongqing Municipal Government, and its campus is located in Shanan Street, Shapingba.
In 1981, the school was named as a key middle school in Sichuan Province. After Chongqing was directly under the Central Government, it was named as a key middle school directly under the Chongqing Municipal Education Commission.
In 1997, the school was renamed as Chongqing No. 1 Middle School. The headquarters is located in Shapingba District, the cultural center of Chongqing, and has branch schools in Huxi Town and Yubei District. At the same time, it cooperated with Kaplan, a well-known American education group, to establish Chongqing No. 1 Middle School International Experimental Branch, which is located in Yuanyang Street, New North Zone.
In July 2005, Chongqing No. 1 Middle School International Experimental Branch became the only middle school in Chongqing that has obtained the qualification of Sino foreign cooperation in running schools from the Ministry of Education.
Since the autumn semester of 2015, Chongqing No. 1 Middle School has stopped junior high school enrollment.
In 2015, Chongqing No. 1 Middle School was handed over to Shapingba District Education Committee for management.
On April 2, 2021, it launched the establishment of the Four Universities Alliance for Training Top notch Innovative Talents.
